"Tottenham Invokes a One-Year Contract Extension Option for Son Heung-min" 英 Media

Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League (EPL) is expected to issue an option to extend his contract with Son Heung-min (32) by one year.

The British media Telegraph reported on the 4th (local time) that "Tottenham will soon invoke the option of extending Son Heung-min's one-year contract."

Son Heung-min, who left Leverkusen (Germany) in August 2015 and signed a five-year contract with Tottenham for a transfer fee of 22 million pounds (about 39.3 billion won), extended his contract period until 2023 in July 2018, and can play until 2025 with his second contract in July 2021.

With Son Heung-min's contract expiring at the end of this 2024-2025 season, Tottenham decided to invoke the option to extend the contract for another year instead of renewing the contract.

The Telegraph reported that Tottenham only needs to let Son know that they are exercising the option to extend their contract. Both Tottenham and Son agree on invoking the option.

"When the option is activated, Son Heung-min will play for Tottenham for 10 years. The recruitment of Son Heung-min is considered the best achievement in Tottenham's transfer market history," he added.

Son Heung-min's future ahead of the expiration of his contract was one of the biggest interests for Tottenham fans.

However, Tottenham has remained silent on renewing the contract with Son Heung-min, who has to consider an aging curve in his 30s.

In the meantime, both Tottenham and Son Heung-min seem to have made a realistic choice of extending options.
